Jill's Wedding

We had such a great time at Jill's wedding. The storm didn't stop us from a fabulous evening out! Jill looked gorgeous in her dress. We had some personal drama that was going on during the wedding...our phones kept lighting up that someone was trying to reach us...turns out it was Billy saying that they were heading up from Houston. Mom, dad, Karen, and I were all attending the same wedding. He was stressing because he couldn't get a hold of ANYONE! Well, the good thing about a Presbyterian wedding is that we were in and out in about 40 minutes, so he wasn't let hanging for very long.
We arrived at Northwood Country Club, where Karen had gotten married. The waiters were bringing around drinks and sushi to nibble on. The doors opened and we went to get a "good seat". I like to be close to the dance floor to see all the action. In the four corners of the room they had four different food stations. My favorite was the potato bar that had both sweet and mashed as well as the BEST mac and cheese I've ever tasted!
The music was fun, the laughter was plenty and we really enjoyed reconnecting with all of our Canyon Creekers! At this stage of my life we don't have many weddings to attend any more so I am very happy when one rolls my way...especially one so elegant as this one!

Hurrican Ike

So Hurricane Ike blew through Houston and brought Billy, Michelle and Baby Harrison up to Dallas since they had no power in Houston. It was fun spending a bonus week with them but I know that they are thankful to be back home. Their house was not damaged and they didn't loose any fences or trees. The daycare is open and Michelle and Billy will go back to work on Monday. Here are a few pics of us "just hanging".

Back to School

I don't have any pictures or any big news. School is back in session, which is why my last
blog was in the beginning of August. The first 9 weeks of school is very busy, so I am sorry
if my blogging has suffered. I just wanted to say that I am alive and will report back soon.

I did have a nice visit with my Grandma Enszer, Aunt Nancy, my brother, Michelle and
Harrison over Labor Day Weekend. We had some fun game nights and I discovered I am
not a Bridge player at all! Hopefully, I will get some pics of the weekend to post soon.

Harrison is 7 month old!

Harrison is now 7 months old! He is sitting up nice and straight. He can lay on his tummy and move around, although Michelle said he is not quite crawling. He likes eating his new solid foods, and it still waiting on his first tooth. My mom and sister spent last week in Houston with them and they told me that Harrison does a lot of babbling! He is going to be a talker...imagine that!

Jill's Shower

So this past weekend we attended a bridal dinner for Jill Hooker. We have known her family
since we were in elementary school through Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church. She is getting married this September and invited us to attend the party this weekend...and what a party it was! The party was hosted by a good friend of Michael's family. We had waiters, we had Cantina Laredo catered in, we had beautiful art work to admire, we had a bird sanctuary with
talking birds, we had valet parking...I am talking NICE! Jill and Michael opened lots of presents and we enjoyed catching up with her brother, Chad, and his wife, Susan. My sister and Mike also got an evening out. And what an evening it was!

Lunch with the girls

On Tuesday, we had our summer brunch with the girls from Sheffield.
Can you believe none of us took any pictures? I even brought my camera!
Anyway, it was nice to catch up with my girls that I used to work with.
Courtney, Tamika, Michelle, Carrie, Kristen, me and Meredith talked
for hours. Meredith was gracious enough to open up her house for the
brunch. All the kids were sleeping by the time I got there after bible
study. I decided to still write about it, because I am so grateful for all
of my friends, even the ones that I don't get to see very often. So thanks
to all of my friends for letting us lean on one another.

We had a fabulous time on our vacation. Our resort was beautiful. It was not very full so we had the run of the place. We ate at three out of the five restaurants. We ate at a Japaneese Steakhouse, a Mediterranean, and a French restaurant. We ate a lot of fresh seafood like mahi-mahi, grouper, shrimp, lobster and more. It was nice that the restaurants were air conditioned after a full day in the sun. They definitely wanted to give off a luxurious air and very gourmet. There was spa-type music everywhere you went, and with it being so empty, we felt very relaxed to just lounge around. Another benefit of it being so empty was that we got to know the other guests that were staying there. We named them according to where they were from. We had the "Crazy Connecticut family", the "Jersey Clan", the "busy New Yorkers", as well as the St. Lois couple. The Jersey Clan was a group of about 25. Grandma and Grandpa celebrated their 50th anniversary by flying everyone in the family down. So there were a lot of aunts and uncles and cousins running around. They were a very nice Italian family, and I was definitely jealous of their dark tans! There were a lot of other Jersey and New York couples, too, but we just met them briefly and didn't have time to give them a specific nickname.
Our Daily Schedule:
Every morning we got up and went directly to breakfast at about 8:30. On our way to breakfast, we would pick up our towels and set it on our favorite seats. (These seats are of course on the end!) After a continental breakfast, we would get ready for the pool and put lots of lotion on. We were usually down to the pool by 10:00. I would then swim up to the pool bar and order a mango smoothie to cool off. At 11:00 was beach vollyball. Chuck played 3 days with the "Jersey Clan" of cousins, and our favorite, Uncle Scott. Uncle Scott was a total goof-ball and would tease the other members. I would sit on the sidelines and get my best sun with cousin Dana. She would tell me about all the crazy fun they had in Cancun the night before. One night must have been really fun, because none of the clan showed up for volleyball one day
and Chuck didn't have anyone to play with. Volleyball would last until noon. We would head into the ocean to cool off and then head back to the pool. We ate lunch at 1:00 at the Reef Grill located beachside. (Chuck took the picture of me in yellow there.) Then it was back to the room to check for sunburn, cool down, and re-apply lotion. We got back out to the pool and stayed the rest of the afternoon until about 4:30. Then it was back to the room for a siesta and then get ready for dinner. After dinner, we went to the main bar and drank margaritas and listened to a live band. And finally, we ended our evening every night by walking on the beach back to our room and stopping to rest on one of the lounge chairs to look up at the stars. The weather was sunny and humid and hot! We didn't want to leave. Hope you enjoy the pictures!
